Influence of Kenyan phonolite manufactured sand on concrete performance

There is a shortage of river sand and large number phonolite deposits around Nairobi, Kenya, but the quality manufactured made from poor. In this paper, effects on performance C30 C50 concrete are studied through tests mixture performance, mechanical properties durability. The results showed that compared with prepared sand, dosage required superplasticizer in preparation using was higher, fluidity slightly lower, were basically unchanged, durability better. above research preliminarily indicate it feasible to use produced by instead prepare concrete. This will reduce long-distance procurement transportation project construction costs.
